Drive-In / Drive-Through Racking

Maximize warehouse space with a high-density racking system designed for efficient multi-pallet storage. Fully customizable and versatile, it supports both LIFO (drive-in) and FIFO (drive-through) configurations.

Drive-In-Racking

Drive-in and drive-through pallet racks are high-density storage systems that enable storing products several pallets deep. These systems allow handling equipment to enter the rack structure for loading and retrieving pallets.

They are available in two configurations: drive-in and drive-through. Drive-in racks have a single entry and exit point, operating on a last-in, first-out (LIFO) basis. In contrast, drive-through racks allow access from both ends, enabling a first-in, first-out (FIFO) workflow with loading on one side and unloading on the other.

Drive-In Racking Advantages

  • Space Optimization: Efficiently utilizes both floor area and vertical space, significantly increasing storage capacity compared to standard pallet racking.
  • Cost-Effective Simplicity: As the most straightforward high-density storage solution, it requires minimal investment while delivering high performance.
  • Tailored Design: Adjustable in depth and height to meet specific storage requirements and accommodate various product types.
  • Flexible Configuration: Can be arranged with a single aisle for LIFO (last in, first out) or dual aisles for FIFO (first in, first out) operations.
  • Forklift-Compatible: Our drive-in racks feature built-in guides and accessories to assist forklift navigation and precise pallet placement.
  • Energy Efficiency: A compact layout reduces the area requiring temperature control, ideal for cold storage and freezer environments.
  • Streamlined Inventory Management: Each lane is dedicated to a single SKU, simplifying stock control and inventory tracking.
  • Versatile Pallet Support: Compatible with pallets of various sizes and weights, offering flexible storage options.

FAQ

What is drive-through racking?
Drive-through racking is a high-density storage system that allows forklifts to enter from one side to load pallets and from the opposite side to retrieve them. This setup supports a First-In, First-Out (FIFO) inventory rotation, ideal for products with expiration dates or time-sensitive handling.
What are the main advantages of drive-through racking?
Drive-through racking maximizes storage density while maintaining FIFO inventory management. It improves product rotation, increases efficiency in cold storage environments, and reduces the overall footprint needed for large-volume storage.
Is drive-through racking suitable for all types of products?
Drive-through racking is best suited for uniform products stored in large quantities, especially where FIFO rotation is essential. It's commonly used in industries like food and beverage, pharmaceuticals, and cold storage. It may not be ideal for operations requiring high SKU variety or frequent pallet access.
How does drive-through racking differ from drive-in racking?
While both systems offer high-density storage, drive-through racking provides access from both ends of the rack, enabling FIFO inventory flow. Drive-in racking, on the other hand, has a single entry/exit point and follows a Last-In, First-Out (LIFO) approach.
